Public Enemy is an American hip-hop group formed in 1985 on Long Island, New York, by Chuck D and Flavour Flav. Known for their politically charged lyrics and militant sound, they became influential in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Key albums include It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back (1988) and Fear of a Black Planet (1990). The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
