Run-DMC is an American hip-hop group formed in Queens, New York, in 1983. The original lineup included Joseph "Run" Simmons, Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, and Jason "Jam Master Jay" Mizell. They were pioneers of hip-hop’s mainstream breakthrough, known for blending rap with rock, especially with their hit “Walk This Way” featuring Aerosmith. Their self-titled 1984 debut and 1986’s Raising Hell were landmark albums. Run-DMC was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.
