Voivod is a Canadian metal band formed in 1982 in Jonquière, Quebec. Known for blending thrash metal with progressive and science fiction themes, they developed a distinctive sound over time. Their early albums, like War and Pain (1984), evolved into more experimental works such as Nothingface (1989). Founding members include Denis "Snake" Bélanger and Michel "Away" Langevin. Voivod remains influential in the progressive and extreme metal scenes.
